THINGS TO DO
Whether you’re looking for activities or want to enjoy simplicity and a slower pace of life, we have it all available on our doorstep.
Here’s a list of things to do when you stay with us at Lower Lila Retreat.
-
Explore and get an understanding of outback life on the farm, with our friendly tour guide.
-
Take some time out to relax, read a book, enjoy a bushwalk or do a painting of the beautiful scenery that surrounds you.
-
Meet our extended family and large array of domestic pet animals. You’ll get to meet baby lambs while they are being fed (seasonal), Snag my sausage dog, our sheep Tiff and Moo, Popeye and his dog Midge, our Alpacas Russel and mum Bundy, our goat Dale, Tina my little yellow dog and many others.
-
In addition to our animals, there is also an amazing array of native animals to be found at Lower Lila and you may be lucky enough to see kangaroos, emus, reptiles and possibly a cheeky echidna around the property.
-
If bird watching is your thing, you’ll find an array of beautiful feathered friends around the Warrego River. Don’t forget to bring your camera!
-
Try your luck at fishing or catching cray fish (yabbies) in the Warrego River. Bring a line or drop in a net if you enjoy fishing. Note, the yabbies must be cooked outdoors because of the intense odour they leave behind.
-
Get a taste of the outback with the red dirt, grey river soil and a real taste with bush tucker, Quandong jam and yabbies.
-
Enjoy the spectacular sunrise and enjoy the stillness as the darkness turns into day. And equally magical are our sunsets where the daylight comes to an end.
-
Enjoy a camp fire under the night sky, and some marshmallows.
-
Go for a buggy ride and meet our horses Lexi and Annie.
-
Star gazing! There truly is nothing more mesmerising than seeing the stars so clearly where we are (and away from city lights). On a clear evening you will see celestial stars, constellations and even planets.
